My father, Stanley Maltzman PSA, HFH, a noted teacher, and author, nurtured my early creativity. Though I attended Parsons School of Design, it was when I met Salmagundian Bill Creevy, PSA, HFH that I became, not only a painter, but an artist.
Creevy, was a master of all mediums and authored The Oil Painting Book c1994 and The Pastel Book c1991. Bill “took me under his wing” and became my artistic coach and mentor. He, along with SCNY President emeritus Robert Philsbury, a Master Print Maker, introduced me to monotypes and encouraged my SCNY Membership.
Creevy received his M.F.A. at Louisiana State University and was awarded a Max Beckmann scholarship (1968) to teach and study painting at the Brooklyn Museum Art School with his own mentor, Hawaiian landscape artist, Reuben Tam, NA.
