L I N E A G E
I am a graduate of the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, under the tutelage of Daniel Graves. Daniel Graves studied under Nerini Simi in Florence, who studied under her father Filadelfo Simi, who studied under Jean Leon-Gerome in Paris. I have also studied with a number of other Florence Academy trained artists like Robert Armetta (through out high school I took classes at his school which was LIAFA, Long Island Academy of Fine Art in Riverhead, now owned by Steve Forster), Marc Dalessio, Stephen Baumann, Ramiro, Robert Bodem, and Leo Mancini-Hresko. I am from Eastern LI, Southampton/Hampton Bays, and grew up in the same place that William Merritt Chase lived and painted (founded the Shinnecock Art School). Chase also studied under Gerome. Chase’s work, as well as Thomas Moran’s (another painter of Eastern LI), was part of my inspiration to begin landscape painting.
