Every summer, Salmagundi Club holds its Annual Open exhibition duo: the only exhibitions of the year in which the Club presents the exclusive opportunity for artists beyond our membership to exhibit in one of NYC’s oldest art club. For our 47th iteration, our Painting, Sculpture, Graphics portion takes viewers for a ride beyond our gallery; from the journey to the destination.

With each artwork, we invite the viewer to travel with us through different places and the people we pass, meet or remember as we move through the world. Modes of transportation such as boats, trains, cars, and planes appear not just as subjects but as symbols of change, impermanence, and possibility. This exhibition reflects on what it means to be in transit, how our journey shapes our perception, and how the experience of motion becomes part of the visual language across different media.
