The city is often described in superlatives — fast, loud, relentless. City Spots offers a different kind of unique narrative: one that exists in the daily motions, where something familiar hides in plain sight. Salmagundi’s Fifth Avenue Brownstone is the perfect location for this special exhibition that pulses with the life of the metropolis.

To find resonance in a crumpled storefront awning, vibrancy in the city’s food carts, or clarity in the quiet geometry of scaffolding; each work is an act of noticing the unnoticed – a resistance towards letting the details of city life dissolve into the hustle & bustle. These artists not only document city life, but distill it, exploring what happens when we stop, stay, and truly look.

This exhibition reminds us that to live in a city is to constantly notice things, and the value of having a second take at what we miss. In spotlighting the overlooked, City Spots reclaims the cityscape for the average metropolitan, the passerby, and for all those in between. This is for anyone who’s ever walked the same block twice and noticed something new the second time.
