Salmagundi Club is home to the oldest continuous art auction in New York, held each spring and fall since the late 1870’s. In the past, the historic auctions, along with pledges from patron members, brought in enough money to purchase the beautiful building that the Salmagundi Club calls home today. The auctions are and always have been an integral part of the club as a fundraising effort.

This year, the live auction, held in Salmagundi’s skylight gallery, will be divided into two evenings: a session on Thursday, October 15 and another on Thursday, October 22, both at 7:30 PM (must be RSVP-ed separately). Come see an early sneak peak of what’s in store by viewing a preview exhibit of the auction works at our physical location beginning Tuesday, October 6. The preview will be available to see in the Club building for the entire duration of the exhibition until the final auction.

Those who cannot be there in-person will have the option of registering their bids via the online LiveAuctioneers platform.

There are two ways to bid:

1. Live in Salmagundi’s skylight gallery on Thursday, Oct 15 and Oct 22
(separate RSVPs appreciated, walk-ins welcome)

Bid in our gallery, surrounded by art lovers such as yourself. RSVP via the buttons below under the date you would like to attend. Different lots will be available on different dates, so RSVP for your preferred dates.

A 15 percent buyer’s premium will be applied to all purchases.

2. Online on Live Auctioneers How it works

During auction night, bid online by logging into your LiveAuctioneers account and tuning into our livestream via our LiveAuctioneers page. Won’t be able to make it? You can make your bids in advance online now. View the artworks or register to bid online via the Browse & Bid buttons below.

Pre-Auction Dinner

Worried that you might get hungry during a busy night of bidding? Treat yourself to a meal beforehand!

We will be holding a special three-course dinner prior to the auction. Prepared by the club’s Chef Melvin, this dinner will be one to satisfy all tastes. Dinner is $45 per person (drinks not included). Menu to be announced!

The dinner will start at 5:00 PM to allow time for dining before proceeding to the auctions at 7:30 PM on a full stomach.
